Joseph Stephen Bonnett

Joseph Stephen Bonnett is an author of dark, weird, and horrific fiction, from Aotearoa New Zealand. He lives in the Hawkes Bay with his wife and two children and spends most of his non-working time writing, reading, drinking too much coffee, and exploring the various forests, parks, and beaches with his family—while cursing the ever-present Hawkes Bay sun.

His work favours the uncanny and surreal nature of giving your mind to the horrors beyond human understanding. Creatures. Other worlds. Psychological devastation, all well represented in his debut novella Chasing Worms. He has two long form releases scheduled in 2026, including the first instalment of the Aotearoa Horror Story collection, a series of illustrated chapbooks set around iconic New Zealand landmarks and important events.
